16-year-old shooter arrested Tuesday for the killing of 1 teen, injuring of 2


The following is information from the Hot Springs Police Department.

Markus Conrad, 16, was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in for his involvement in the killing of one teen and injuring of two, with a firearm, on Oct. 5 at 607 School St.


Conrad has been charged as an adult with Murder in the First Degree, Aggravated Robbery, Terroristic Act x2 and Battery in the First Degree. He was transported to an undisclosed juvenile detention facility where he is being held on a $750,000 bond.


At 6:17 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2022, officers of the Hot Springs Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of School Street.


Officers located a 16-year-old male with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, however, he succumbed to his injuries and later died.


An 18-year-old male showed up at a local hospital with multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds from the incident.


A third victim, a 17-year-old female, was located in a vehicle in the 1200 block

of Central Ave., where officers were flagged down by the driver while en route to a

hospital. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries for treatment.
