Goodwill looks for owners of army medals, purple heart allegedly donated by accident last week

"Some army medals, including a purple heart, were donated this past week to our Hot Springs store," a Facebook post from Goodwill Industries Arkansas said on Monday. "There's no name or date on them, but one of the medals was issued to a member of the 28th Transportation Battalion. We'd love to see these get returned to the family they belong to. Any help would be appreciated!"

The items were donated inside a box to the 205 Garrison Road location, just off Central Ave. behind the KFC and Taco Bell. Store manager Preston Shoptaw said they were donated either last Thursday or Friday, Dec. 2 or 3.

With nearly 100 donations a day, mostly made by locals, Shoptaw said they aren't sure who donated the medals, or what other items they were donated with. The store assumes the donation was an accident, and wants to find the owners of the items.

Along with the medals was a photo. One commenter on Goodwill's Facebook post said, "Looks like the last name is (C)offman." Another said two of the "medals" aren't even medals, they're coins.

"We have the best intentions of getting it back to who it belongs to," Shoptaw said.

If the items belong to you, or you know who they may belong to, he said to call the store at 205 Garrison Road, 501-525-4473.
