Library now circulating Mid-America passes, Garvan Gardens passes to come

Teaming Up

The Garland County Library and Mid-America Science Museum are joining forces, allowing library patrons to check out family memberships to the museum at no cost, and this is just the beginning for what's to come in the library's progressing circulation.

"We are very excited to partner with Mid-America Science Museum to circulate family passes," Library Director Adam Webb said in a MASM news release. “We’ve always had a good partnership with the museum and this collaboration will help extend the museum's reach in our community while also providing added value to your Garland County Library card."

But even more value added to a free library card is on the way. Webb told The Post the library is also working to include a similar pass to patrons for admission to Garvan Woodland Gardens.

For the MASM passes, there will be two passes in circulation at the library. Only one pass may be checked out per household, and that pass will provide general admission to a family of up to five. It will not provide admission to any traveling or added-on exhibits.

Passes will need to be returned to the library within three weeks of when they are checked out. If the passes are checked out, you can place yourself in line for the next available pass. Patrons are asked to return the passes after their visit to accommodate the next patron waiting.

Having just checked out the passes to the first two people at about 10:30 a.m. today, Webb said they already have a waiting list of 13 people.

To check out a pass, at least one family member must have a Garland County Library card. The passes are searchable on the library's website, gclibrary.com, under "Museum Pass," or may be reserved in person at the library.

“We are excited to partner with the library and offer free admission to the Museum for library patrons. We are hoping this will give more local families the opportunity to visit the museum and take advantage of the unique educational activities we offer,” Diane LaFollette, the museum's Executive Director, said in the MASM release.
