Volunteers, donations needed for holiday weekend's warming shelter

As temperatures reach single digits the week of Christmas, a warming shelter for the homeless will be held in the gym of First United Methodist, 1100 Central Ave., today through Monday. The hosting organization, Full Circle Missions, is asking for volunteers and donations.
"It’s going to be super cold today and the next few days," Full Circle Missions announced on its Facebook Page today. "I believe that if we do not get our guys inside then several of them may not make it.
"If you have a few hours available please try to volunteer. I know it is the holidays. I promise I get it. It takes everyone to make this happen. We cannot do this without our city."
To volunteer, contact Full Circle Missions via Facebook.
The shelter will be open starting at 2 p.m. today through 10 a.m. Monday.
Earlier this week, Full Circle said it would "love for our homeless population to wake up to a present" Christmas Day.
"Nothing fancy but I would love to bless them with five dollar McDonald’s cards," they said. "They don’t get to wake up in a warm bed very often on Christmas. So I know that it would bless their hearts abundantly to have some thing. I will also be picking up other things to go with this. If anyone would like to help please get in touch with me. Or even if you want to pick up just one five dollar McDonald’s card. That would be a giant blessing. Thank you all so much."
